It is worth considering that electroplated Tin uses organic (meaning
containing Carbon) addition agents (brighteners) which are co-deposited with the
Tin....
and having NO evidence one way or another, I would put a fair amount, with
very attractive odds, on the fact that this is a MUCH more likely source of
Carbon, than atmospheric anything.
