The overall cost of the PCB is affected by copper - the percent can be
more than the 10-15% with higher density circuits using more foil and
plating. The real cost increase has been in glass costs due to
shortages and lack of supply.

Subject: [TN] Marketwide Copper Price Increases-True Effect on the
overall PCB Costs

To All,

In the wake of marketwide price increases for various PCB material, (to
include but not limited to copper foil), someone in purchasing me the
true effect on the overall cost of the PCB.

It is my understanding that copper constitutes approx. 10-15% of the
overall material costs; is this an accurate assessment? If so, how can
this be equated to the overall cost of a PCB?

According to purchasing, this has been active topic of concern from most
of our suppliers, and they are seeking "insights" so as to make an
informed decision during this market trend.

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hugh
