It is true that copper price as increased. But also has the epoxy resin,
glass fabric and several other raw material used in the manufacturing of
PCB's. The demand for material is so high right now, mostly driven by the
China manufacturers, that even Dupont has stopped taking any more orders for
their kapton material this year. Most of these price increases are based on
demand and the demand is high. Look at the gas prices at the pump. China's
consumption for energy is driving up the oil prices. I have even read where
the Chinese government is buying ships and tearing them apart for the metal.
Although we are not seeing a huge increase in orders lead times in Asia are
now more than 20 weeks. I do not think that the copper is the only factor
effecting the increases nor do I think that they will end any time soon.
