Ken;

  This definitely sounds like you want zero human error with this process.
Short of using robotics to accomplish this and allay the fear that 'ooops, I
missed one' could happen, maybe a quality checklist should be in order. This
checklist could be a simple drawing of the part with the numbered torque
locations and an area for the operator to record the torque reading. This
checklist, in conjunction with a dab of paint on the hardware, could be part
of the final inspection process. A print out of the torque readings could be
included along with the quality checklist and final inspection report.

Hi Hal,

I looked into these marking torque wrenches and they are way cool. The only
problem is that they only work with bolts and nuts, not screws. If anyone is
interested you can look at these at www.tohnichi.com/pro_MPQL.htm

In response to Dave's comment; If you automatically record the torque that
doesn't tell you that every screw was torqued. It only tells you that a
certain number of screws were torqued. You could potentially torque the same
screw twice and skip one and still get the same number of torques.

Any more ideas?

Thanks,

KennyB
