If you have both the films and the Gerber data, you could use one of the
free Gerber viewer apps and visually compare. I suppose it would also be
possible to scan in the film image (make sure the scanner is
sufficiently precise) and superimpose it over the one from the Gerber
viewer app. image in a graphics app. (I did something similar once to
check the drilling positional accuracy from a cheap and nasty CNC
drilling machine - I scanned in a drilled board and compared it with the
CNC data: it was up to about 50 µm out on the radius in random directions).
