CARTS 2004 ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 2004--Dick Rosen,
chairman of AVX, will make the keynote
presentation at CARTS 2004, March 29 to April 1 at the Sheraton Gunter
Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. This year's event
will include 40 papers in the technical symposium, seminars on new
technologies and world markets, an exhibit with 25
vendors, and a Tuesday evening reception.

CARTS has been the leading passive component technology conference and
exposition for 24 years. The event was acquired
by the Electronic Components, Assemblies & Materials Association (ECA)
earlier this year. It is organized by the
Components Technology Institute (CTI).

Rosen will kick off the technical symposium on March 30 by offering
insights gained from more than 40 years in the
passive component industry, during which he has been involved in much of
the technology development behind today's
products. In addition to his top management positions with AVX, Rosen has
served on the EIA Board of Governors and the
ECA Board of Directors. AVX is a recognized leader in passive electronic
components and interconnect products, with 24
manufacturing facilities in 13 countries worldwide and nearly 13,000
employees.

The CARTS three-day symposium will feature technology papers in six areas:
material processes, multilayer ceramic
capacitors, reliability & testing, applications, design & construction,
and new technology. The technical sessions will
be preceded by two seminars on March 29: a morning session on new
technology and lead-free issues; and an afternoon
session on the worldwide capacitor and resistor markets, presented by
Dennis Zogbi, president of Paumanok Publications.

Seminars and technical sessions will be complemented by a vendor
exhibition from Tuesday noon, March 30, through
Wednesday afternoon, March 31.

"We are delighted to have Dick Rosen providing his wisdom on the
international market," says Bob Willis, ECA president.
"His presence is an indication of the importance of CARTS to the
international passive components industry."

CARTS is the first event this year in an ECA line-up that includes the
International Relay Conference (IRC), the
Electronic Distribution Show (EDS), the Electronic Components and
Technology Conference (ECTC), and the International
Wire and Cable Symposium (IWCS). For more information on these events,
visit: www.ecaus.org/conference/.

The Electronic Components, Assemblies & Materials Association (ECA)
represents manufacturers and producers of passive
and active electronic components, component arrays and assemblies, and
materials and support services. It is a sector of
the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), comprising more than 2,100
members that represent 80 percent of the $430
billion U.S. electronics industry. ECA members benefit from a dynamic link
into a network of programs and activities in
areas such as business and technical information, market research trends
and analysis, access to industry and government
leaders, technical and education training, and others. For more
