The OnSite system uses a Pressure
Swing Absorption (PSA) technology, using carbon molecular sieve(CMS) as
opposed to membrane technology.
As I understand it, there is an inherent problem with membranes...they are
very, very sensitive and fragile. Replacement of a membrane is very
expensive...even in existing systems. The PSA approach is very
stable...with units in the field for over 20 years without problems.
The PSA technology allows Purity levels in a range from 95% up to 99.999%
with a patented Purity Exchange Valve...which allows one unit to generate
three different purities...with the flip of a valve. We have three unit in
the N. CA region in place inerting Selective Wave Solder machine...all have
been placed since summer of '03. Many additional units in other industries.

Several years ago, I looked into a membrane nitrogen generator for the
possibility of supplying inert gas for reflow ovens and wavesoldering
machines.
Are companies using N2 generated by the membrane N2 technology for
reflow/wave? If so, what N2 purity level can be generated?, And how
successful is it for inerting electronic assembly applications?.
Who are major players for supplying membrane nitrogen generators?
