Okay... let me rephrase my question. What would be the most common
laminate thicknesses for double-sided FR-4 material, around the .045" range.
I know that I can get .031 and .062 material, is there anything in between
that would be considered "standard" (readily available without added cost)?

        Roger,

"Standard" means different things to different people. IPC does not
specify
standard thickness for double sided or multilayer PCB's, that is
left up to
the product designer to meet their product fit, form and functions
needs.
What is normally considered is material availability as a industry
standard.
Certainly 0.062" thickness, in a lot of cases is used for double
sided and
boards are designed around that thickness. However some designs and
products
can not be that thick and therefore other material needs to be used.

Okay, I have a "newbie" type of question:

What are the "standard" thicknesses for double-sided boards?

And then the type of questions I ask when it's been a rough week:

Who determines the standard? Has IPC determined a standard?

I would like to know so I can tuck it away in my quickly growing
files of
        pcb flotsam and jetsam...

Have a good one! (Time to call it a day)

        James,

This is not a standard thickness if you are taking about a double
sided PCB.
However if it is a multilayer and depending on how many layers it
has it is
possible to get your required thickness. Most likely if you are
talking
double sided than it will either be specially made by a laminate
manufacturer or the PCB fabricator. If the laminator makes it, it
might be
expensive depending on the quantity needed.. It might be best to
allow the
fabricator to make the material as it should cost less.
