At the direction of the IPC Technical Activities Executive Council, a
blue ribbon task force, under the leadership of Lee Wilmot, Tyco Printed
Circuit Group and Jasbir Bath, Solectron, has developed a Draft Standard
on the Marking, Symbols and Labels for Identification of Assemblies,
Components and Devices. This standard addresses the labeling of
materials of interest, including lead-free.

The draft standard is now posted at
http://www.ipc.org/committeedetail.asp?Committee=4-34B.

The committee will meet on February 23, 2003 in Anaheim, CA during the
IPC Technical Conference to discuss comments received.

Please submit all comments to me at [log in to unmask] prior to February
13, 2003.
