You can still follow the SMT criteria.
For example
1. If its a DIP with clipped leads, inspect per 12.2.8 (Butt/I Joints)
2. If it's a round lead (axial or radial comp) us 12.2.6 (Round or Flattened Leads.

prepped and placed on SMT pads.Does any of you company's do this? IPC 610
gives you SMT criteria for SMT components & THT criteria for THT components
