Joe,

It is normal to conformal coat over no clean residue. A lot of ECM's
are switched over from water to no clean. Now, no cleaning is more
robust process than water-soluble, and cleanliness of assembled product
is no issue as long as bare boards/other specific components meet
cleanliness level req't.

We haven't encountered any issue over conformal coat (acrylic and/or
silicon) or pot assemblies vs no clean flux residues. You may want to
ask your CM for comparability tests done for conformal coating vs no
cleaning flux residue.

Fellow Techeads,

It has been suggested by one of our CMs that it is acceptable to
conformal
coat (type AR) over no clean flux residue. Would anyone like to share
their
opinions or experience on this subject. Conformal coating over residue
does
not sound like the correct thing to do. thanks

joe
