Some industry observers have suggested that this lead-free effort will be a
little bit like Y2K... a lot of hyperbole followed by a whimper, with lots of
money being made on the activity up to the last minute.

They suggest there will be a point at which the legislators will come to
understand and realize the unnecessary havoc they are about the wreak on the
electronics industry for virtually zero environmental gain and they will hit the
reset button.

I am an optimist. I hope they are right and that there are such reasonable
and rational people in the EU parliament.

We shall see.
