Good Afternoon Lorraine,
The equipment available today is a lot different than what was available 10
years ago with respect to low volume high mix. Fuji now has equipment that
falls into that category whereas 10 years ago, you needed high volume and
low mix to justify a Fuji machine. Several of the trade magazines (SMT &
Circuits Assembly) have published a yearly comparison matrix on different
types of assembly equipment. I would check with those on-line resources for
starters. The equipment that I chose (about 8 years ago) to fit this
description was made by Europlacer (www.europlacer.com) and may be worth a
look for your needs.
Good Luck.

Subject: [TN] Low Volume High Mix

I've been asked to look at options for Surface Mount Placement equipment
which is geared towards low-volume, high-mix. In common with a lot of
companies, we are seeing a shift in our market towards high tech, low
volume work and we need to assess how best to meet that requirement.
The ability to use strips of components, and/or loose components as well
as the more traditional reels is essential. Most of the SMT equipment
in the market is targeted towards high volume, so I would welcome any
suggestions.
