Kathy,

Anything is possible, don't let them tell you it isn't. That's why they
say "virtually". True, the majority will be found to be fine, but you will
occasionally have some to be found corrupted. I am by no means an expert
on this or even want to be one, but I beleive in my limitted work with
programming IC's is that you are making a contact between the IC and the
programmer socket. This is a friction contact which can, in my
unexperienced opinion,in this area, be very unstable, caused either by
contamination on either the IC or the socket or maybe even bent or loose
pins in the socket.
I'm sure your programmer tells you if a pin isn't connected. Who's to say
that it is not intermittent after programming has started? I do know that
at may facility, we do have some IC's that we have to increase the voltage
while programming, or they will fail once assembled. Even if the check sum
matches the original.

I hope I helped. Not sure if this is what you were looking for.

Kelly
