Rob,
I agree with Scott's thin plating assessment but placing and evaluating a
test coupon would only be useful if you place the coupon in an area that
generally represents all the platable areas of the board. The problem with
that is the current density distribution over the board varies widely and
thus so does the plating thickness distribution.
