The way I've always trained new operators is to first instill in them the
thought that "the first fiducial is to reference the placement of ALL
components to it and the second is used ONLY to square the board." They are
necessary, but if you absolutely cannot have them, then use some other
distinctive landmark (tooling hole, pad, via, etc.) as your fiducial. In
this business, we need all the help we can get.......if we can get
fiducials on the board, as well as local fiducials for fine pitch and/or
BGA's, then life ain't too bad.

                        FUDICAL/FUDICIAL  are marking that are used for
references in the X Y plot of a board. A fiducial is the 0,0 origin point
for the board or an area of the board. They are absolutely necessary.
