I was also going to suggest the floating balls (nylon, or polypropylene I believe), ala plating baths. I think that I have seen them in either McMaster-Carr, or Grainger as well.
I believe that at one point, someone used ping-pong balls, but don't think they would hold up to well in toluene.

Anyone know of any sponge material that is resistant to toluene? I have a
spray application where the spray heads, to avoid gumming up, are immersed
in toluene. This leads to a fairly large evaporation. My thought was that
a sponge material would keep the heads wet with toluene, but would minimize
evaporative loss. I am open to suggestions.
