Hi Carrie

There is a stencil printing option available even if leaded components with
stand-off's up to 30 mil are present on the PCB. This is Glue Reservoir
printing. The stencil is thick 30 to 40 mil thick and has a glue aperture
to control the height of the glue brick as well as a reservoir aperture
above the glue aperture. This is described in APEX 2002 Proceedings S27-1
"Metal Stencils for Adhesive Printing"

        Yannick,
The specifics of the process will depend on the design of the board
and the adhesive you use.
We use a Loctite Printable adhesive 3612. Make sure to pick a
printable adhesive. Loctite as well as other companies also offer adhesives
that are printable AND dispensable.

We use our "normal" printing process. For us, "normal" means either
manual printing using a TA printer or automated printing with a DEK screen
printer. In both cases we use .006" thick stencil and we use metal
squeegees. If we are lucky, we only have chip components. If we are not
lucky, we have to manually dispense dots for the larger components (which is
why dispensing is sometimes better.)

        -Carrie

        Subject: [TN] Adhesive printing

        Hi,

Does anybody ever try to print adhesive on a board, we have
a double
side board which need to go after SMT in the wave, we must put some
glue on
the board to keep the component on the board. And it's time
consuming to
get the glue off the board. Now we are thinking to print adhesive
with a
stencil. What do I need to do that? what type of stencil,
squeegees,
aperture for the component, how much adhesive must I have on the
board,
thickness of the stencil, in other wordswhat do I need to know to do
this
        opertaion.

        Thanks you

        Yannick
