We print with 6 mil stencils, metal blades and use Epibond 7275-1, works great. Your stencil house should be able to easily modify Solderside Artwork for adhesive printing.

Yannick,

This is a relative easy process and does not require any special equipment except maybe cleaning equipment (stencil and board). I always use stainless steel stencils and squeegee blades. There are plastic stencils available but I always felt they were not robust enough.

The stencil I use is 6 mils. On the PCA's that I used HASL on I under-etched the discrete attachment pads 3 mils to provide a pocket for the HASL to I got better gasketing and less bleed out.

I used Loctite 3612 because at the time it had the best strength, best release, and stayed on the stencil better than the rest.

Aperture sizes I used were 0805 (18x60 mil) 1206 (28x70mils) 1210 (28x110mils) 0603 (12x40mils) SOT23 (12x120).

Subject: [TN] Adhesive printing

Hi,

Does anybody ever try to print adhesive on a board, we have a double
side board which need to go after SMT in the wave, we must put some glue on
the board to keep the component on the board. And it's time consuming to
get the glue off the board. Now we are thinking to print adhesive with a
stencil. What do I need to do that? what type of stencil, squeegees,
aperture for the component, how much adhesive must I have on the board,
thickness of the stencil, in other wordswhat do I need to know to do this
opertaion.

Thanks you

Yannick
