Yannick we print 60 assemblies with adhesive currently. We use Epibond (I'm
sure there are other brands) an 8 mil stencil with modified dogbone
apertures. Alpha Metals has a good aperture design booklet available. We use
metal squeegees and print speed is a little slower. Glue height can be
adjusted with snapoff or depending on component sizes the stencil thickness
can be increased. Electrolytics and high profile IC's require more glue
height.

Rich can give you more information on the booklet and aperture selections.
We have our own files for different type components.

Subject: [TN] Adhesive printing

Hi,

Does anybody ever try to print adhesive on a board, we have a double
side board which need to go after SMT in the wave, we must put some glue on
the board to keep the component on the board. And it's time consuming to
get the glue off the board. Now we are thinking to print adhesive with a
stencil. What do I need to do that? what type of stencil, squeegees,
aperture for the component, how much adhesive must I have on the board,
thickness of the stencil, in other wordswhat do I need to know to do this
opertaion.

Thanks you

Yannick
