To those who commented my mail about red P in tantalum cap bodies. We have cross sectioned a number of caps from two well known tantalyte manufacturers. The plastic they use is quite different from the hazardous one that X made (250 tons)with sporadic red P in. The dangerous plastic was used for IC packages only, so no red P problem with tantalum caps, at least not those that we use.

So, this topic is finished from my side. Exploded tantalytes has another root cause, which we penetrate further. Maybe humidity, as some of you mentioned.

Nikkei, CALCE and others warned for red P particles in IC plastic packages. Could cause migration between terminals and electrical failures. This was last year. Didn't seem to be a major problem to most users. Anyone who knows if such P 'doped' molds were used by tantalum cap makers too?
