Tin Whiskers: The Unexplained Phenomenon
November 5, 2003
10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (CST)

This webcast addresses the concerns that are being expressed in the industry by those contemplating the use of pure tin for lead coatings to those challenged with utilizing pure tin interconnection and plating for high reliability systems.

Participants will have a unique opportunity to obtain firsthand information on tin whiskers - its occurrence and effects.

Join Jay Brusee an Engineer with QSS Group, Inc. at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as he addresses the significance of metal whisker formation, particularly to the high reliability community.


Topics covered in his presentation include: 
        Examples of tin, tin-lead and zinc whisker formations and some associated failure      experiences 
        Structural similarities of whiskers from various metals will be highlighted 

The course begins at 10:00 a.m. (Central Standard Time) and concludes at 11:00 a.m. Registration costs for the course is nominal. Just complete the attached registration form and return it to IPC at 847-509-9798, Attn: Registration Department.
