I know the difference between a volt and an ohm and quite a bit about solderability, but I don't profess to know very much about the inner workings of electrical components.

As the components are trimmer capacitors, I don't think ESD would be an 
issue. If they were jigged in a metal frame that could be earthed after 
they were treated.

There is another point that should be considered: the trimmers may be 
lubricated with a conductive grease; this could be removed by water washing.
