Your note reminded me that plain old fashioned Phillips Milk of Magnesia also works as a wetting inhibitor and can be washed off after experiencing temps of 300°C +. :-) I assume that it is based on magnesium dioxides ...

heard of some mystic titaniumoxide 'emulsion' that is dispensed with syringe and dried afterwards. Can be removed with a solvent. Vague tips, yes, but you asked for ideas. Maybe someone else recognises this better.
