just an addition to the good advice everyone else has given you..
scanning in this manner will provide a pdf file, but it will be a graphic
representation of the file..
i.e. the text will not be editable, and will not be represented as text,
but as a bmp or tif file..
are you looking just to send a pdf copy of the image? if that is the case,
it would be easier and more compact to send a gif file...
this will still be readable and printable to everyone..
if you have a linux box somewhere on the network, you can use that to make
a pdf also...
