We use an ESD video from IPC for all our ESD training. This video is about
20 minutes long, and is quite informative. We follow up with an awareness
"quiz", which we review as a group. The ESD training is a one time thing,
unless we have issues on the floor. This re-fresher training is usually
conducted by the supervisors.
We also have created our own in-house training modules for the Assembly of
printed circuit boards(5 day certification class), Hand soldering of
Printed circuit boards (3 day certification class), and Rework and Repair of
Printed circuit boards for both Thru hole and SMT components (5 days).
We pretty much use IPC as our Quality Standard, and it was easy to create
Curriculums using the Manuals, Video tapes and Posters. Let me know if you
want to discuss further.

Blair:
We train for ESD yearly, for those employees who actually work on or visit
the assembly area. For all others, secretaries, accounting, etc., we have
them read and sign an ESD awareness statement. The training consists of a
brief (12 min.) video from DESCO which goes over the basics, followed by a
presentation describing more specific rules and regulations for our company.
The video isn't the greatest, but it's the only thing I've been able to find
that's not CD "employee interactive" that takes up to 8 hours to complete.
If you happen to find another video please let me know.

        Hello Technetters,

For those of you in the U.S., Happy Labor Day. It's supposed to rain
here in the Northeast U.S. most of the weekend, as usual.

I'm looking at revamping our training program, and wondering what
other companies do as far as initial training requirements and
recertification, for example, ESD Awareness, Soldering Technologies,
Workmanship standards, etc. Do you train once and monitor output, or
re-train periodically?

Also, If you train for ESD, what training materials do use, videos
or computer-based?

        Thanks, TechNet!
