Hi Angela,
I've attached an excerpt from Mil Spec that causes rework after a first
attempt to require formal disposition. The disposition would normally have
determined of there should be further restrictions to limit product from
flight hardware qualification. Realize that this will not post to TechNet
but you should receive it. Later versions allowed rework with no additional
restrictions until the product became noncompliant (not recoverable through
rework). At that point formal disposition was also required to determine
repair, scrap, etc... Current Standards such as J-STD-001B don't place a
restriction on the number of rework actions that can be accomplished.

Subject: [TN] Rework

I am currently looking for a spec., that includes a criteria, for how many
times a production unit or board may be reworked before it is determined not
suitable for flight hardware. I was under the impression it was up to our
customer, but have recently been told there was a spec. out there. I have
not yet been able to find one. Can anyone help? Thanks! You guys are great!
