Angela, I'd suggest getting the engineering drawings and checking the
distances from hole to edge.  It was likely designed to show and if you
prove that to the inspector, there's not too much he or she can say.  If it
wasn't intended to show, then you may have a problem with the fabricator.

Hopefully someone out there can help. We have an issue with gaskets. The
chassis that we put together has a gasket between the housing and lid. Our
source inspector is rejecting them because you can see the gasket. I always
thought that was a good thing because now you can verify that it is present.
Does anyone know of a spec out there? I need documentation to back me up, so
any help would be great. We are building Military product and work strictly
to Class 3. Thanks!
