Dear Debbie:

They may be referring to IPC-A-610C Section 3 wherein it requires use of
ESD Protection AND use of gloves for "Target" condition. However,
"Acceptable" condition allows for ESD Protection and bear hands touching
the edges of the PWB.

There is no stated "Defect" for this particular section (though I would
assume not using ESD protection would be cause for disqualifying an
assembly facility).

Hope that adds some light.

Sincerely,

Subject: [TN] Class 3 Handling requirements

Hello!

I'm returning to the forum after about 5 years, and looking forward to
the
technical discussions.

My question today is regarding PWB handling requirements for IPC Class
3.
My company is in the process of getting qualified to produce PWBs to
Class
3, and I was wondering if there are any specific handling requirements,
for
example, gloves. I've looked through most of the IPC PWB specs, and
have
not found anything, but we've had a customer toss out the comment that
we
aren't Class 3 ready because the operators were not wearing gloves. Is
anyone aware of a spec I can look at?

Thanks,

Debbie
