Hi Deborah,

The spec you should use is IPC/EIA J-STD-001C, but it does not even
mention the use of gloves. It states for all classes:

"7.1.8 Holding Devices and Materials Equipment,
devices, materials, or techniques used to handle boards or
retain parts and components to the printed boards through
any and all stages of soldering shall not 1 contaminate,
damage, or degrade printed boards or components. The
equipment, devices, materials or tech-niques
should be adequate to maintain
component positioning and permit sol-der
flow through plated-through holes
and/or onto terminal areas."

How you guarantee all this is up to you.

Hello!

I'm returning to the forum after about 5 years, and looking forward to
the
technical discussions.

My question today is regarding PWB handling requirements for IPC Class
3.
My company is in the process of getting qualified to produce PWBs to
Class
3, and I was wondering if there are any specific handling requirements,
for
example, gloves. I've looked through most of the IPC PWB specs, and
have
not found anything, but we've had a customer toss out the comment that
we
aren't Class 3 ready because the operators were not wearing gloves.
Is
anyone aware of a spec I can look at?

Thanks,

Debbie
