I have ordered one test kit and will try it out with a lab as well and
report back the results with pictures etc in due course. Its around £20 per
kit. I am hoping to try it out before my lead-free workshop for IPC in
Germany and show it if successful.
Just off to celebrate my 50th and go on holiday.

Subject: Re: [LF] Standard Test Method For Determining % Pb in PCAs
Hi Again Bev and IPC LF Listservers,
DANG It, I just updated my AOL software and that last note WENT FAST
before I was complete even thinking.
-------------------------------------
Mass or USA-MA has some pretty strict housing lead legislation.
They regulate the inspectors and the deleaders so I thought I would
go looking at their site for just a bit. IL, MN, etc also are good.
<http://www.state.ma.us/dph/clppp/1054601.pdf>
Is a long document and I see on Page 5 under Lead Inspection
two techniques are called out
X Ray Flourescence
or 6-8% Sodium Sulfide
Since I think you Bev might be a chemical person and certainly others
like Brian have lots of chemical background does the Sodium Sulfide
reaction have a color reaction maybe even a color changing effect
OR could one be constructed if using the proper liquid quantities
to get at the .1% by weight measurement. Anyway just a thought.
I found nothing looking at either the Home Depot or the Lowe's site
and then I gave up. The Home Inspection Sites also didn't help. An
indicator solution like UK Bob notes would be nice if it could be
constructed sensitive enough.
