Hi paul I thought you ment flex bend test. There is a test we did for a 24
inch board I made that had led's ever 1/4 inch , used for emergency lighting
on 737's. w ehad to do a bend test on each lot , we designed a coupon that
went on the side and replaced one board, it consited of a series of vias
representing the actual layout of the leds, we conneted the vias in series
and put in 2 large pads . the test was to bend the sample around a plastic
section ( sewer pipe about 18 inches in diamiter or may be even bigger. we
used a stanford 4 wire resitance meter and a failure was a 5 % rise in
resistance ( ie holes starting to pull apart ) I think they had to pass 5 or
7 bends. it turns out aircraft bend a lot so they were trying to determin
flexibility in the plating. however the led's in the middle of the board
were not as bright as the end ones, so we increased the plating to 3 oz and
the boards always passed the bend test , doubled the number of bends, we
then made 6 oz boards and they were vertialy industructible,

so the amount of plating in the hole effects bend radius tests on figid fr4.
hope this helps
best regards robert tarzwell

Is there an industry standard bend test?

I have found many people doing them, but no standard.
