Brian,
Ok, from a chemical hazard stand point you've got me. From a personal protection standpoint methylene chloride starts a whole host of issues with respirators, fitting, training, physical exams and ventilation, not that phenolic compounds don't. I guess I look at it as a demarcation line where using it becomes a pain in the butt with all the other things that have to be done to "legally" use it in the eyes of OSHA.
So for a small operation the chemical route might not be the best route.
I stand corrected.
Phil

Methylene chloride is hardly a "really nasty" chemical. It requires user
precautions but is perfectly usable. OTOH, many epoxy removers contain
phenolic compounds which ARE real nasties.

The termination area is potted in epoxy, and the volume is about the size of a sewing thimble. The wires require rework. Is there a way to remove the epoxy to get to the wire terminations?
