Without knowing the exact application you are referring to I would check
out
IPC-A-610 section 5.2.7.1 Mounting-Wire/Lead Termination-Printed
Board-Protrusion-
Straight and Partially Clinched leads. (L) Min For single-sided boards,
lead or
wire protrusion (L) is at least 0.5mm (0.020 in) for Class 1 and 2. There
must be
sufficient protrusion for Class 3 to clinch. PCB 2.5mm ( 0.98 in)
