Thank you to all.
We have a BGA package that we suspect for Pop corning or
delaminating that we need to have scanned.
As usual, Tech-Net comes thru with sound advice and help.
My hat is off to the Net.
You too Duane......

Barry.

Hi Barry
As another Technetter indicated, SonoScan is the big company making
these things. They will happily sell you one, or if you just need some
small jobs done they do work on analysis by contract. They will provide
a full report with analysis, pretty thorough - and color pictures to
impress the boss.
Good equipment to look for die delamination within a chip, and we've
used them to check for voiding in underfill materials. We also used
them to check for package delamination on some ICs where we had to
re-form the leads a bit...

I believe they have offices in California and in near Chicago.

I have just had a discussion with a fellow associate,
and he is on the hunt for somebody able to do
something called SAM (Scanning Acoustic Microscope.)

Anyone heard of any such animal.

Barry
