You should be able to check it with a few known resistors. Most wrist and foot straps have a built in resistance to avoid shock hazards - the wrist strap checker verifies this resistance within a range. Substitute that wrist strap or foot strap being checked with t known resistor within, above and below the range to verify proper operation. You'll need to check the tester's manual to determine the ranges.

Good afternoon everyone,



I am using a 3M 740 Wrist/Foot strap tester.  Normally in the past I have
sent this out for calibration / verification.  What I am wondering is if any
of you folks are doing this calibration / verification in house.  If so,
what standard(s) and equipment are you using to check this?  Since this
tester is being used daily I really can't afford to have it out of the plant
for too long (I don't have an extra one or a loaner to bridge the gap while
it's gone).  Please contact me offline if you have some input on this.
