Peter and Steve,
My Prototypes got different definition:
(1) functional prototype, anything goes with full function but no
reliability (normally constrained by time to demo, budget and limited
component source).
(2) MFG demo capability prototype (with all the real BOM and will use
for reliability initial assessment).
For NO. 1, anything goes (paper clip, foam cups, tape, etc)
For No.2. As close to real product as possible with all the deviation
from the "real" product lay out in document.
Best regards,
                                                                     jk
