Depends on how much and what kind of power. You can not get more power out
than you put in minus transmission losses. One proposal is to use the
optical fiber as the center conductor of a microwave coaxial cable. The
fiber will need to be clad with a coating of silver or other low resistance
conductor. Use the coax ass'y to transmit RF power than convert it at the
other end.

Subject: [TN] Power over Fiber Optic cable

Is anyone out there doing this...

Has anyone worked with or heard of a process for transmitting power over a
fiber-optic cable?
I believe the theory behind this is to transmit light over a cable and then
convert it to power via a photovoltaic cell or something similar.
I need to respond to a question on a proposal on this subject today.

If you have any information on this topic, please let me know.

Thanks,

Rob
