I think that will not work

because of the conversion efficiency.
A Led  has just a few percent effieciency and the solar cell max. 20%. That
will mean that you will destroy paower rather than transmit power.

Is anyone out there doing this...

Has anyone worked with or heard of a process for transmitting power over a
fiber-optic cable?
I believe the theory behind this is to transmit light over a cable and then
convert it to power via a photovoltaic cell or something similar.
I need to respond to a question on a proposal on this subject today.

If you have any information on this topic, please let me know.
