Hi Technetters,

In fact, which location also dictates the pricing as well other than
volume, in US, Singapore, Indonesia or China.

And also the logistic issue and the total BOM cost.

I was once faced with this issue. The French wants everything in SMT, we
want certain portion of the board in TH. We looked at the BOM cost and
assembly cost, it was more economical for us, but not for the French. And
we had a long debate over this till we settle with our customer where they
want to produce. And that dictates how the board should be designed. And of
course, if you have the space on the board, do incorporate the potential
difficult to find component both in SMT and TH.

Hope that helps.

Poh
