        It depends on the spectrum of interest.  On a project we
        have in house currently, the engineer is concerned about
        a .008" thick "aperture" (laminate thickness) to such an
        extent that we're stitching vias every tenth-inch.  The
        opening can be considered as a slot antenna. The spectrum
        of interest in this case is multi-GHz.

        It should also be considered that the pitch on those vias
        should be varied so that we don't make a big congregation
        of slot antennae working at the same frequency.
