I really think the better solution is to educate your people on the needs of
automated assembly. To be cutting off short sections of tape and then
spicing on a leader two minutes later seems ridiculous. Show the costs
involved with this handling and splicing operation to management and see if
you can't convince them to "do it right". Good luck. I know there are many
closed minds out there, and this is the type of stuff that drives me nuts,
as I am sure it does you also.
