Carrie: We have both units, the Waverider is the one that we are using. No
endorsement for one over the other, both are good units.
We monitor dwell time in the waves, parallelism and preheat. It is used as a
process verification tool. Similar to an Omega meter for verify the wash
process is in control by checking board cleanliness. It verifies the
process' repeatability.
It is also useful after a solderpot teardown and cleaning to make sure the
alignment, nozzles and height setting are back to where they should be.

Subject: [TN] WaveRider(ECD Mole) vs. Wave Optimizer
We are preparing to purchase either a WaveRider which uses the ECD Mole or a
Wave Optimizer as a tool for our Wave Area (and possibly SMT).
This is one of those projects that was put on hold then taken off, then put
on hold, etc.
We are now prepared to purchase one or the other.
I can see each tool has it's advantages and disadvantages, but, I'd like to
know
from some of you who have used either or both what you feel are the
strengths and weakness.
Thanks,
Carrie
