Techneters,
The back planes of our products include many press fit connectors (1200 to
6000 pins) and 100 to 500 passive components - resistors and capacitors,
mostly 0603 and 0402. In the past we used HASL finish. However, during the
last year we switched into immersion tin. Following some failures in the
coating processes, yielding exposed copper on external pads (and you can
just imagine what happens in the via and connectors pins holes), I consider
two options:
1.      Replace my old and known vendor, and look for one who will do a
great job in the coating, or
2.      Return to the good, old, well known and reliable HASL.

I think that my tendency can be read between (or inside) my lines; yet, as I
have not made my final decision, I am open for other opinions.
