Daan,

I guess that it rather depends on the class of product, the number of SMT
lines used to run the job, the amount of through-hole assembly, whether
it's manual soldering or wave and how many bodies they can throw at the
job. Through infinite resources at a job and everything is possible.
One line, a pair of manual-soldering operators, a pair of inspectors and a
test guy could do it in about 3 weeks, I reckon, with no rework and 100%
manual inspection. Four weeks is probably fair, allowing for resolution of
problems and fitting in other urgent work.

My 2 cents

Peter

Hi Technet,

My question for today is about logistics, and I apologize for those who
think that's not technical enough ;->

What do you consider a normal leadtime for a small batch of
average-technology boards (let's say 100 boards with 400 parts each) to
be processed through SMT, through-hole assembly and flying probe testing
?
Where I work this takes 4 weeks as a standard (a little faster when
it's really urgent) starting from the moment the workorder is released
to production. I'm wondering how this compares to others that are doing
subcontracting-work. Do you consider the 4 weeks competative ?
