Technetters

1. To keep Technet a useful technical resource, here are some basic
guidelines:

2. If at all possible, please submit your postings in TEXT format,
not HTML. There are still many subscribers who have a hard time with
HTML.

3. Technet is first and foremost TECHNICAL forum relating to
electronic manufacturing issues. Although it is also a community, with
elements of a community, the posts should be geared toward TECHNICAL
issues.

4. If your posting warrants an answer that is specific mainly to
your unique case, encourage responders to respond back OFF-LINE to your
e-mail address, not thru the forum. By default, when you hit "reply"
your reply is addressed to the forum.

5. Keep the "me too", "I agree", and other short snippets to a
minimum. Before replying back to the list, remember that your post will
go to 600+ subscribers, each one who will receive upwards of 40+
messages daily from this forum. Please ask yourself if your post is
worth taking up the time and attention of these subscribers to read.

6. NOT ALLOWED ON THE LIST: Blatant commercial postings, resumes,
attachments, framings, profanity of any sort. Offenders will be warned
and then barred from the list.

7. If you need to send an attachment or a picture to the list, post
the attachment to a website and then reference the attachment with a URL
in the Technet post.

8. When responding back to a long-running thread, take a minute to
remove older responses and the footer containing instructions.

9. Utilize the archives at
http://listserv.ipc.org/archives/technet.html for previous postings
first before asking a basic questions or repeated issues.

10. Some useful ADMINISTRATIVE COMMANDS to send to the List
ADMINISTRATION address [log in to unmask]:

SET TECHNET NOACKREPRO (to receive a copy of your own posts)
SET TECHNET NOMAIL (to put a hold on your subscription)
SET TECHNET MAIL (to re-start your subscription
SIGNOFF TECHNET (to unsubscribe to the list)
QUERY TECHNET (to see your subscription settings)

11. If you feel you must post something non-technical to the list,
please put [NTC] in the subject to alert subscribers that the post has
No Technical Content.

You may have noticed that the subscription base has dropped dramatically
recently. Some of this has been due to pruning of non-existent and
duplicate addresses, removal of long time NOMAIL
subscribers, and non-renewing subscribers. Also, the numbers reflect the
current status of our industry in general.

Please respond OFF-LINE back to me at [log in to unmask] if you have any
other suggestions or input about etiquette on the list.

Thank you for your cooperation.
