The supplier is correct. It is no problem for him. The rest of us on the other hand need to consider such things as placement accuracy and rework. For instance, the pick and place machine centers the parts but there are slight variation in the finish thikness, one part places ever so slightly left the next to the right. The second part either pushes the first out of the way or the machine decides the location is not empty. Result you have to fix it laqter. Gimme some space.

To All,

I have some 0805 resistors placed on a board, the supplier says its no
problem laying them out with no space between components.  I was wondering
is there a specification for SMD minimum spacing.  Because I am vary wary
of this claim for many reasons.
