Phosphor, eh? That means  if ever any of my avionics boards burn, they will
have a secondary function as distress flares, thereby saving the weight of
flares and flare guns in the aircraft. Good thought!

Yes the bromide will be not allowed any more, but it will be replaced by
Phosphor, therefore the FR can still alive.

I sure hope so, because (to my knowledge) the bromide based flame
retardents fall under the same EC-directives that forbid the use of lead
in electronic products by 2006.

Mike,

This should be interesting since the "FR" in FR stands for "Flame
Retardent".
Bromide compounds are the flame retardents. Let's see if anyone has
developed a halogen-free FR material.
