I just realised that I posted what was intended to be a private observation
to Tim rather publicly on the forum, so I will appologise to unreservedly
to all Singaporeans that I will have undoubtedly offended by my remarks,
and then duck quickly to avoid all the rocks that will be hurled. English
is a second language to most here, so it's not really fair of me to
criticise their use of it as I did. I couldn't even begin a conversation in
Mandarin or Malay or Tamil, so I hereby shut up and rush to cool my red
face!

Peter

Art thou shaken by the temper of the day? (ATSBTTOTD)

Do you have 1000's of songs worth of lyrics in your head just waiting for
the right music to remind you what they are? Can't remember more than a
half dozen at the moment though, and almost none of them all the way
through, right? My propblem is crowding out all the stuff I want to do to
take time to read to my kids, so they can see and hear good grammar. It's
the hardest job I have. That and my failing career as a song writer. :-)
What rhymes with Tg?

Steve

PS-Is it Non-Technical Tuesday?

> Yeah, have you heard about the language (not English) that has sprung up
around the instant text messaging craze...it takes the abbreviations we use
in e-mails to the extreme. I don't know from personal experience, but I
heard a comment on the radio about how it's ruining young peoples' grammar
and vocabulary as they replace English with this stuff.
