It is about time for the US Electronics Manufacturing industry, via IPC or
others, etc., to stand up and demand some kind of reasonable protection. As
Graham pointed out, in the not too distant future, China will have
everything it needs from the US and the rest of the Western countries. When
the US no longer has a viable electronics manufacturing capability, will we
be asking China to sell to us the components we need to defend against them?
I can hear them laughing already...

The strange thing with all this is that people in the US or in Western
Europe would never consider working for the small amounts of money that the
collegues in China or Eastern Europe make, or under their working
conditions. And the way some of these countries allow their industry to
pollute the environment is a bloody shame, so we say ! But only few of us
are willing to pay for products made under the circumstances that we demand
for ourselves, we rather have a similar but cheaper product made in
low-salary countries.
But then, if we are not buying our own products, then who is supposed to do
so ? It's our own greed that makes us jobless in the end!
